Bali & it's black magic

Head out to Bali on 12-12-12 with 2 girlfriends.
It was a R&R trip.
Sightseeing, water sports, rafting, body surfing, shopping, massage & EAT.
Before the trip, I was pretty stressed between work and family.
After the trip, I am still stressed but at least I have decided to talk to my manager.
And, we had agreed on some sort of arrangement which I hope will improve my work life balance.

Anyway, back to the trip.
One interesting information was that Bali is still pretty much fascinated with magic - white and black.
Driver told us that there are men using the black magic to hypothesis foreign women.. Especially ladies from Japan.
Not sure how true was that but if you google online.. You may find many links on black magic in bali.

Not enough time

Ever think that 24hrs is not enough ?
Everyday I have been stressing about not having enough time :(

Sleep - 8 hrs (my wish)
Meal time - 2 hrs
Feed and walk racer - 1.5hrs
Work - 9 hrs (minimum)
Preparation, shower, etc - 1.5 hrs
Transport time to/fro work- 2.5hrs
Alone time ?
Partner time ?
Family time ?
Friend time ?
Groom racer time ?
Toilet time ? Haha

My sleep has suffered as that where draw time out for others issue.
No wonder I am constantly tired.
My body screaming for more rest.
These days, I woke up with at least 2kg of water retention and that is usually my first warning sign.

I am so tired and it is only 9am.
Wish I can just drop everything now and cry to sleep ..

Mr Foo decided to grow some healthy snack for racer.
Which is "grass"!!!

Experiment on small quantity and racer does actually love it.

Great flight

Had an early Xmas present - SQ finally decide to give me an upgrade for my Sydney to home trip.

A380 has been in service for 5yrs but this is my first time in the business seat.
Shoik !!!

Manly beach

The last time I was at this beach, it was with Jes, Pris and princess lotte.
Environment has not changed;
The ice cream store is still around;
Except that I don't have them next to me ..
I missed those days.

Anyway, manly beach is not as crowded and touristy as bondi but provide the same breeze.
Love it.

Bubble bath

Business trip is not all about work.
I give some time for relaxation too.
Ahhh ... Soak myself in a hot tube :)

New cutie shoe

When is the last time that I bought a cutie shoe ?? Too long, I guess !!!
Never too old to wear a bling bling shoe :)

After a round of buffet and half a tube of ice cream.
I got a swollen and bloated feet !!
Bad decision :(

Pork ribs and winter melon soup

Had a boring Sunday as I stayed home and do nothing.
Gosh, this make me realised that I really cannot "do nothing".
Driving me crazy.

Anyway, I did dinner for 2 and here's the soup:
400g pork ribs
1 melon, peeled and cut into big chunks
4 red dates
Some wolf berries

It is a simple dish as just have to bring all to boil. And then simmer for about 1 hr.
Add salt to taste before serving.

Margarita @ Dempsey

We wanted to try the PS cafe @ dempsey but it was "super packed".
Ended up at Margarita for "brunch" - kind of weird timing.

The food is pretty decent and the tiramisu is our fav.

Tiramisu - rich taste of coffee, if only they add more rum

Medical appointment

With my numerous trips to the doctors for test, scan, etc...
Now, racer is following my path!!
I send him for dental scaling but ended up he need a drip etc.. Old dog with some liver issue..

Medical bill vs Headset

Today, I received 2 items from the delivery.
1. A bose headset ordered by Sir. *Yeah*
2. Medical bill from the recent cell extract @ thyroid/neck.
It is a procedure similar to blood withdrawing ... A syringe was poked directly at the neck and extracted the cells. *OUCH*.

Well, what is the cause of medical in Singapore?
Apparently, it is more expensive than the headset.

Soo Kee duck along upper thomson road

Mmm... There's always a queue in this stall whenever we pass-by.
Therefore on this day when there's no queue, we decided to give it a try.
*Heng, we are early because just 10min later, the queue starts to form*

Err... Frankly, I don't find the noodles great but the duck was fresh.
It was alright but I don't think I will spend 30 min queuing for this.
Rather, to be fair - I never like to queue for food, no more than 10min.

So-so noodles, go for the rice instead

Homemade pizza @ Foo's

It may be easy for some to make pizza.. For us.. It was a pass & fail experiment.

One pizza had a chewy crush, the other is thin and crispy.
I think we may have to make a few attempts before "showing off" to friends.

Oh, the escargots - you can get from dempsey and drop them straight into the oven.
Soup of the day: Clam chowder (Campbell, of course). 
Also, I love the double brie with truffles... heavenly good!! It will be an ultimate combination if go with some wine.

I had work from home today (another scan made today), so I took the chance to tidy my home office table.
If you know me - I am definitely not a neat person so this is the best I can get.

Yesterday, I had a great brunch with Jes and Pris @ PS Cafe.
The chocolate cake reminded me of San Diego days where I had the large cake of my life - double layer chocolate cake. Woohoo.. so sinful.

My birthday morning started @6am, receiving well wishing text from my favorite amigo!!!
Followed by more sleep before we head out to a new eatery - Skyver. 
Before, I knew it... the day is gone.
I bet the Monday blues will follow.

Korean wave is very HOT now, so we decided to have Korean Ala Cart buffet.. Yeah!!
We had a table full of food before heading out to the "The undead forest" @ Flyer.
Pure ladies talk about holiday, work, men and sex.... Yummy.

Ok, the food... I think it is pretty decent except that I was hoping the seafood pancake will have MORE seafood.

Little thing that makes me smile

After a busy day at work, I was super hungry and yet had to carry heavy laptop home..
During the walk home, I spotted a rainbow ;)
And upon home, a nice warm dinner (plus hairy crab) is waiting for me.

Ah .. So nice ;)

The handburger

Relax Saturday after a busy week.
Lunch at "The HandBurger" @ Raffles City.

Verdict:
Shredded pork - if you like slightly salty.
Beef burger - good beefy taste but was a bit dry, probably need add more sauce/gravy.
Chunky fries - CRISPY!! Love it
Mushroom soup - I like :)
Brownie - very chocolate but texture is unlike the usual. It's more like warm pudding.

Executive lunch at Private Affairs

Yeah, it is another "executive lunch" tasting :)
After much consideration, we decided to try the executive lunch @ Private Affairs, Boon Tat Street. 
We arrived with much anticipation to try the food but not knowing that reservation is much required; and it turned out to be a full house!!! DUH..
The staffs were really helpful and not wanting to disappoint us (we travelled from the North - just to have lunch! Err… too free I guess..haha); they actually rearranged the table setting to accommodate us…
Of course we were thrilled – well done people!

The place was indeed packed by 1230pm, therefore the noise level went up as well. Too much for my comfort…

Overall, the service and food are pretty good but the pricing may be slightly high - Total bill for 2pax is ~110.
