Knew trouble will brew one day!
This is the same car rental company which we rented once and never again.
Now, they are in spot light to ask customer to compensate $67k!!
From my car rental experience; the excess is a couple of thousands but this is over the top (?).
Unless there is a difference policy between oversea and Singapore ??
Anyway, our lesson learnt then was "better to trust reputable brand and pay a bit more".

Rental company insists NSF owes it $67,000
SINGAPORE - You wrecked our car so you must pay.
The amount?
A whopping $67,000, to be coughed up within a week.
That was the ultimatum handed to full-time national serviceman (NSF) Alan Tan Jun Rong by car rental firm Neo Rental And Resources after he crashed a rented Honda Civic car along Bedok South Avenue 1 on the morning of Aug 12.
The 20-year-old, who was driving alone towards the East Coast Parkway, lost control of the car and collided with a centre divider, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
He also fractured his right arm in the crash.
"I had just got my driving licence the week before the accident and I wanted to celebrate with friends," said Mr Tan, who has a brother, aged 10.
He had paid $388 to use the car for four days, but claimed that he was not told about the insurance for the car at the time.
Most big rental companies like Avis require drivers to be between 23 and 74 years of age and in full possession of a valid driving licence with at least one year of qualified driving experience at the time of rental.

But a car rental industry source told The New Paper that probational plate holders - who are at least 26years old - can rent a car from smaller companies.
He said this is done because the smaller companies need the business. As for insurance, anyone who does not meet the driving experience required will usually have to pay the excess of $10,000.
"Assuming the damages total to $15,000, the customer will pay the excess of $10,000 and the rental company will foot the rest," said the source.
When asked to recount the accident, Mr Tan admitted his error.
"While driving, I lost control because I was too tired, I had stayed up late meeting some friends the night before," he said apologetically.
Mr Tan said he called the police immediately after the crash and called the rental company to inform them of the accident as well.
He said: "But they were not happy I called the police and scolded me. I thought that was odd, shouldn't the police be informed of such incidents?"
A tow truck hauled the wreckage and the rental company picked him up at the accident location, said Mr Tan. It also picked up his dad, Mr Tan Choon Tsien, from his shop at Hougang Green Shopping Mall.
Both were then taken to the offices of Neo Rental And Resources at MacPherson Road.
The father, a 37-year-old shopkeeper, said they were kept on the premises until they signed papers agreeing to pay for the damage.

511 earthquake
Sad news: An elder has passed away.
My thoughts and prayer are with the family. Be strong.
A Taiwanese fortune teller is predicting that on 11 May 2011; Taiwan will have "super" earthquake that will kill many.
Some people take it as "advertisement"; some took it so seriously that build their new home using shipping container.
This piece of news is spreading like wild fire in the net and local TV.
Life and death are so fragile.
Anyway, there are earthquake yesterday and today..... maybe tomorrow too?

Nature disaster
Let's all pray for Japan!
Nature is beautiful but nature disaster is destroying. Is it all about “cycle” or “chain effect”?
Does nature/earth has a life span? Have you heard of Maya calendar that predicts 2012 apocalypse? Do you believe in it? If so, 2012 is just nearby.
No matter when it is, we still need to enjoy life, be truthful, be considerate, be love, be happy, be grateful… be ourselves till the day we die.
Seeing what happen in this world, I guess it is good to get ready (sub-consciously) that we might lose someone we love. I hope my family will move on even when I’m gone (never know when will I meet with accident or ganna terminal illness)
Ok, enough of the heavy stuff. Haha…I bought a new bag today, but just recalled that some time back, I have sworn not to get anymore of the Esprit bags. Looks like I cannot resist temptation vs. usability. This is a very simple causal bag, so I hope it will at least last for a while .Gosh, I am addicted in buying big bags!

Make them a Eunuch!
Crazy law, crazy ruling.
Child molester got "light" sentence over raping a toddler!!!
Reason from the judge - Because the victim (who is a child) did not resist, did not say no.
WTF!!!!

TV show that can cause divorce
Taiwan TV program... really talk about everything - food, people, airport, road, government, spirial related, etc.
Today I was watching a program - they invited 4 celebrity couple and made the hubby to bring a gift to wife.
First couple, the husband gave a Chanel latest design handbag. (Wow... the other wives watched with envy, but probably the rest of the husband will think he has “spoiled market”).
Second couple, the wife received a fire distinguisher. Gosh, why in the earth would you give your wife a fire distinguisher? What is the guy thinking?
Third couple, NT300,000 sliming centre vouchers! The wife was so pissed that she tore the vouchers on the spot; as she felt so humiliated!!! While the husband explained that his wife had been complaining about her figure and, that is why he got those. Ended up – they fight and argue in the show over this “sensitive” gift.
NT300,000 leh!! Why tears it? At least refund for money mah
Last couple, the mystery gift was “table cloth”.
This show taught me a few things
1. Guy can be so insensitive
2. Why will people fight in live tv show? If you cannot take it then don’t go on show
3. Woman are materialistic after all
