Taichung park

After a whole week of hectic work schedule, I chilled out at the Taichung park today.

After, I got myself a Starbucks green tea blended and enjoyed the free live music.

Having a break from work is really GOOD !!!

Singapore flyer street food corner

Usually we associate bad food in touristy place but this "food court" at Singapore flyer is surprising pleasant. But it costs us $51.50! Have your ever spent more than 10 buck for hawker food??
Here we are:

Satay Bee Hoon:
Small portion but very yummy.
The presentation does not give it much justice... But once you start eating, you will love it.

La La: too sweet and starchy.
NEXT....

BBQ stingray: This beats the ones at east coast hawker centre.
Good !

Oyster omelette: Generous serving of oyster. Good for sharing as it might be too much to have it alone.

Ice ball: traditional desert
No way we going to skip this.
SWEET!!!!

Sweet treats for takeaway: worth $13!!!  (Probably just $3 many years back)
We must be crazy to buy these lots but it brings back the childhood memories.
These days, Most kids are unlikely to appreciate these.

Gone case with cupcake

This is my x attempts with cupcake.
Another failure!!!

Paid bucks to learn trick from the baking class but it turns out to be another failure.
The class was badly organise with lack of equipment and instruction.
Times where we mistaken baking soda as flour and salt as sugar.
No labelling on containers! Sucks :(

Super surprise :D

Haven't seen the ladies for the longest time and finally, we manage to meet up over lunch and tea break.

We had a decent lunch at "la villa" (Italian restaurant).
Wonderful food and it's my first time trying "angel hair" pasta.
I like it as it is like thicker version of beehoon. Hehee.

Here's the yummy dishes:

My birthday just passed but the ladies still got me a wonderful present - A pandora bracelet!!!
I am like a kid who received a candy and will love to yell out in joy.
Of course I didn't as we are in a public place.. Need to watch my behaviour.
Thank you ladies.. I love you all... Muack.
Haha :)

Little part 1 cafe

Little part 1 is a cosy cafe located at a hidden corner of Thomson road.
("Hidden" by my definition as it is located behind the main road and within private homes cluster).

The cafe environment is really cosy and homely.
Be it Order a coffee and read a book or,
Dinning with friends.. this is a suitable place.

We ordered:
1. Buffalo wings
Not quite our tasting as chicken didn't taste fresh and the vinegar was relatively strong.
2. Stewed beefs with bread and organic salad.
This dish is yummy and portion is enough for 2 pax.
According to the menu, this is only available during weekend.

Karcher sc4100 steamer

Purchased a new toy.
It's unbelievable good buy.
I like it alot as it heat up pretty fast and easy to use.

Within a minute, it can get rid of the stubborn dirt between the tiles, which is almost impossible to clean with a mop.

Sembawang hot spring

Having staying in the north since birth, I never heard and been to the famous hot spring.

Is there a hot spring in singapore?
Sounds weird to me but apparently it is quite a well known spot.

Even youngsters were here to soak their feet.

Caution: the water is really pipping HOT.

Au Jardin @ Botanic Garden

Officially, I will be returning to work on Monday therefore we head out for a nice lunch today (don't know when the next one will be).
I have heard good reviews about Au Jardin so here we are.
For weekday lunch,  there are 2 menus -1. Traditional set @45++; 2. Premium set @65++.
We picked the latter.

We were seated by the balcony which is awesome and gives us lots of privacy (we are the only couple in it).

Hot breads were served immediately after ordering.  Yummy...

I enjoyed most of the stuffs except for his main course - the seafood risotto is kind of fishy tasting. After, he suffered from indigestion.

Total damage: 80 per pax
Will I go back again? Maybe... I had better French food elsewhere at a slightly lower price but Au Jardin ambience is super.

Olay brush

I loved the Olay brush as it cleans well, especially when my skin is oily/combination.

However, the brush must be replace every 3-6mths.
Here's mine just after 3 mths of usage (brush on the right). Super dirty right?

Paid a little visit to the URA building which showcase Singapore in a mini 3D model.

Shopping mood...

I am attempting to calm my craving and desire to purchase Olympus OMD. Haha.
I already owned an E-620, which I used it during travel so, I don't really have a strong reason to get another one (?).
But (there's always a "BUT')... E620 is already almost 4 yrs old so maybe it's time for upgrade?
Beside, there is a promotion now for getting the body and 2 lens at a "huat" price - $1,688
However, if I have purchase an additional lens then my total damage will be $2,500.

Check out the beauty which has quite a number of good reviews. 048-1_25_sec_at_f___2.8-LUMIX_G_20_F1.7

Favourite cafe - Casa Verde

One of our favourite hangouts - Casa Verda @ Botanic Garden.
You probably noticed that I am visiting the garden often these few weeks, it is because it's next to the clinic where I have my medical reviews.

Anyway, we love Casa Verde's food as it is simply good, nice and affordable.
Also, it is surrounded by the green which is my favourite place to relax

This time, we are trying new items on the menu- mushroom burger and warm chicken salad.
Both are delicious... Importantly, I am extremely satisfied with the meal, especially after a month of plain food.
Oh, do try out the pizza too... it's awesome!

Juicy (= fat?) burger.
It is so yummy that I wish to have another one NOW.

Tasty chicken salad...

Now, while we are enjoying out meal; Racer too... is enjoying his chicken chewy stick!

Foods for thoughts - thumb down

This eatery is located at the botanic garden, next to main gate.
Ambience looks pretty cool but the food was bad.

The burger was one of the worst we had. And for the price, it wasn't worth it.
Usually burger comes with fries but not here.

As for the peso linguine ... Too creamy for most people liking.
Wouldn't visit again :(

Our New drink holder

Monday blues

It's really hard to kick start the Monday after a 4 days long weekend break.
Thunderstorm in early morning makes us want to laze in bed even more..

Me: Ooi.. Wake up, Racer..

He ignored me and continued to zzzZZZ..

Reinventing yourself

While I have some time during the hospitalisation leave, I borrowed a couple of books.
One was "Reinventing yourself" by Mario Alonso Puig.
Initially, I was sceptical about reading these books as some say - it's your life, so it should be under your control. But what if you have lost control?
Not indicating that we must digest every single words in the book; but sometimes, we can read and do interpretation according to your life and needs.

Everyone loves and wants the good thing in life (who doesn't?) and wishing bad thing will never fall on them.
This is impossible but what we can do is treasure the good and probably do damage control when the bad comes.

A couple of quotes that I took off the book:
1. If you wish to reinvent yourself, focus on what you wish for and NOT on what you fear.
How often have I avoid things that I fear and yet complaining I am not doing New stuffs? Mmm..

2. When you see a person, do not just take note of the human being that stands before you. Fix your attentions on the state of mind that person has at that moment. It will be very difficult for you to connect with that person if you both have not got into a suitable state of mind.
This is so true - if both are not in a suitable mindset, the discussion will go nowhere.

3. Very often the most relevant thing is not to impart knowledge or give explanations but formulate question which allow us to explore things which we had never even considered before.
Now, I am definitely going to try this method when I get to work.
Numerous of times, I failed to impart certain knowledge/send the message across to another co-worker.
It has become like a situation where "he never listens to me". Let see if asking questions will helps.

4. The body is the subconscious, and for this reason, when you look after your body, you are taking care of your mind; and when you take care of your mind, you also take care of your body.
Now, how to take care these?

Ooops.. this is a pretty lengthy post. Racer also cannot tahan and zzzz liao. (this is an old photo)
