Have you been there?

It's my very first time – visiting the Istana (next to Plaza Sing)
Istana (palace) was previously known as the government house, 1869.
Later, it was renovated in 1996-1998 to be what it is now.

I had mixed feeling (mainly sadness?) when entering the place. Reasons:
1. I never been to the Istana before, and I have been a Singaporean for the 30+ yrs. I'm sure there are more “youngsters” like me.
2. There are much much more foreign (PRC, Indian/Pakistan, Caucasian) than Singaporeans... rather, I notice a lot more PRCs though. You definitely can recognize them by their accents. Like what people say, you can pick up a Singaporean by the way he/she speaks. The same rule applies to the PRC.
Oh, even the drink stall is operated by PRC. Is it because "they" are citizen already? or is it because Singaporeans refuse to operate the store?
Shame on Singaporeans...
But why they want to come to SGP whereas some people that I knew (from the same country as well); can't wait to leave SGP. No, I think I should say those people that I knew are the nice talented PRC so they are smart to know they should venture out of SGP? I don't know. I feel I no longer know SGP; it has changes so much that I feel like a stranger. Or am I the one that has changed?
Was it because I spent less time here? Or what is it?
Changes are necessary but it is subjective to what kind of changes. IS the change that our country going through now - good or bad?

Bottom-line, you probably spot 1-2 Singaporean out of 10 in the Istana... Isn't that sad?
Own country palace, but yet you don't find locals. Is that more of a tourist attraction? Is it because Singaporeans are not proud of own place? Or is it because it CNY where they have visiting to do?

Anyway, we got to see the president as well... the very first "government" figure that I ever met in person.
Finally, what are my feeling/thoughts? I felt heartbreaking for him and the country - "why so few Singaporeans" in the open house.
